Repairing broken crystal and glass.

Please click on pictures opposite to view previous work

By trade I am a glass engraver and during the course of my work over the years I have developed ways to restore/repair pieces of glass and crystal that have been chipped, bruised or scratched.

However, on many ocassions I have been asked if I can repair broken glass and crystal items.

As you can see from the images opposite. Because I am not a glass blower/manufacturer my skills are limited with regards re-constructing broken glass pieces, as all I am able to do is optically glue them together. Unfortunately, more often than not there comes a point where something is so damaged that it is beyond repair. The usual senario is when an item is glued together the mated surface areas are so small the adhesives strength is compromised and usually on top of this, small sections are missing which I am unable to replace.

I know there are companies out there that use resins in which they in some cases are able to re-create lost sections of broken glassware, and this is something I am looking into. However, it is not a service I am able to provide at the moment.

So. Below you will find some usefull contacts. I am listing these with the idea of helping you find a company that will be able to manufacture a replacement section or complete item. However, if you would still like to chat you are still more than welcome to contact me.

If you are a glass-blower/manufacturer specialising in one off commisions and feel your services may be of some use to the many customers who visit this site with a view to having a replacement piece of glass made or a broken section replaced. Then please feel free to contact me. I will of course need to see some evidence of your skills or previous work and if it's appropriate I will add a link to you below.

Although a great deal of care is taken.
There's always a very slim chance a piece of glass may break whilst being worked on. This is because the glass as well being a naturally fragile material may have a stress fault caused by the initial damage.
All restoraton work is undertaken on the understanding that it is entirely at the customers own risk.

If the worst should happen no charge will be made and unfortunately no compensation can be offered.
